“When you master the elements of air and water, you become an unsinkable force of nature!”

The philosophy behind Elemental Aquatics is simple: water is a vital element to our well-being, and the healing power of water can greatly improve many facets of an individual’s health.  Learning how to swim is essential in San Diego, but our mission is also to create an environment where special needs ( and also “typical”) children and adults, seniors, and those needing a different aquatic experience can use the healing power of warm water to improve motor function, improve symptoms of depression and anxiety, for sensory stimulation, and simple fun and play!  By providing clients with the opportunity to customize their aquatic experience, Elemental Aquatics can provide a comprehensive swim, sensory or wellness experience. Our entire philosophy for our learn- to- swim students is child-centered, and rooted in building trust and having fun. We use guided exploration, story boards, pictures, social stories, PECS, songs, sensory tools, and play, while using developmentally appropriate progressions to enhance learning and to develop confidence.  By growing roots in the community and providing opportunities to serve the families of North San Diego County, Elemental hopes to make positive waves of change for years to come.

About the the Founder

The founder of Elemental Aquatics is Angela Wild. A Southern California native, Angela has been a lifelong swimmer and fitness enthusiast.  Her early career was established in the fitness industry, working to help clients achieve their health and fitness goals. While pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Angela changed career paths and began teaching swim lessons at several San Diego-based swim schools.  Finding a passion for drowning prevention, Angela pursued an MA in Motor Learning to further strengthen her knowledge and to make an impact on the industry. Finding a desire to grow professionally, Angela then became active within her local school district to work as an Adapted Aquatics Instructor for K-12, and also with adults with moderate/severe disabilities. Seeing the need for greater opportunities for children, adults, seniors and those needing a more personal approach to their aquatic experiences, Angela sought to create an aquatic enrichment program that compliments the traditional swim lesson program.  Now, with nearly 25 years of experience teaching swim lessons to children of all ages and abilities, a passion for helping people and a desire to serve her community, Elemental Aquatics is here!
